I wrote a silly little ficlet set during series x. I've had the idea for ages, but just decided to finally get it written down. It's nothing ground-breaking or particularly well written, but it made me chuckle. :-)

Date: 2015-08-17 03:34 pm (UTC)It's funny the ripple effect that photo has had. Within our fandom you could understand it, but it kind of spread through Twitter etc to all of Craig's fans through music, Corrie etc and got so much more attention, to the extent that Craig himself acknowledged it by going back to the spot and recreating it. It's become almost a kind of iconic photo of him now, which is interesting.
Don't get me wrong, it's a gorgeous photo, which partly explains why it's been so popular, but there's lots of gorgeous images of Craig floating around the internet. I think the appeal of that particular image is multi-faceted, in that it really captures the essence of who he was then, this young working-class lad who was wise beyond his years; the fact that it captures him in a moment when he was right on the cusp of his life changing, becoming
a celebrity, becoming Lister. It's got that bittersweetness of hindsight, of seeing how young and sweet and vulnerable he looks and knowing what a ride he has ahead of him. And of course, it captures what an achingly pretty little thing he was. It certainly deserves its own fic and you did a great job.
