I don't know if everyone else has been seeing the Tumblr posts about AO3 possibly going belly-up, but I wanted to post about it here just in case. Something about the board of directors changing hands, and the future not looking good for the organization that handles AO3.
I don't know how much of it is exaggerated internet gossip, but just to be on the safe side, I've downloaded all of my fics.
I don't just want to hang onto my own fics, but the archive of Lister/Rimmer fics is so vast that it would take me forever to download all of them. I already have several of my own personal favorites downloaded to my mobile, but if there are any of your fics that you think are your best ones, let me know. I really wish I'd made it a habit to automatically download my favorites as I read them, but when I first started reading Lister/Rimmer, I just surged through them like a Tazmanian devil. :-)
I thought this might be an interesting way to keep a kind of repository of people's works that they're the happiest with. If you were going to recommend some of your fics, which ones would you choose?

Date: 2015-11-25 07:37 pm (UTC)I'm happy with the vast majority of my fics (stylistic niggles notwithstanding), but if I had to overcome my vanity and pick a few...I would say the Don't Let Me Go series (plus If, which I consider to be part of it) and Destined?

Date: 2015-11-25 09:46 pm (UTC)My fics would actually be OK as I have the originals here on LJ but obviously I'd be sad to lose the comments and even sadder to lose all those other fics. Of course some of the RD fics were originally posted here but by no means all.
My fics I'm happiest with - "Alternates" as it's by far my longest and sustains its running time well. http://archiveofourown.org/works/345262
"Three's Company" - I don't know where this shameless smut came from but I like it. http://archiveofourown.org/works/4801061
"Trouble In Paradise" - ditto. http://archiveofourown.org/works/1902939
"Beloved" - I feel it packs a punch given its short length. http://archiveofourown.org/works/4022743
"Curls" - fluff and hair porn. http://archiveofourown.org/works/809718
no one is going belly up! no need for anyone to be scared about the future of the ao3
Date: 2015-11-25 10:10 pm (UTC)I tag wrangle at ao3 so I should know, we're still wrangling, and the translators are still translating, etc, etc, and none of us are likely to stop whether there's an election, reelection, rereelection, or a polka party for the board of directors. ;) The two are not connected in the way that you seem to think, and there's plenty of posts on ao3 and otw to explain what exactly the otw board resigning impacts, and what it doesn't.
In short, the archive won't go away or belly up whatever happens to the otw's board of directors, and six out of dozens and dozens of people leaving only one of their otw posts does not impact the rest of the organization. Yes there will be some changes, but those have happened so far too only they weren't as flashy or newsworthy so less folks heard about them and there was less drama all around.
In fact, the post you linked even says that the ao3 is running as usual, so I don't know where you got the belly upping from, it's far from the truth. :)
