Title: Escape, Part 2
Pairing: Rimmer/Lister
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: I don't own Red Dwarf, and I doubt my esteemed collegue does so either. None of us make money from this.
Notes: I now have the great honor of presenting the final part of Escape, the fic co-written by
roadstergal and myself. When we left our heroes, Rimmer was marooned on a stormy planet, with little hope of escape, save by the rest of the RD team. Will Lister come through? Will pr0n happen? Well, dear readers, there's only one way to find out... If this is the first you've seen of this fic, go read part one first.
Set between Legion and the Thursday before Gunmen of the Apocalypse. Spoilers for Legion, Marooned, Terrorform, and probably a few others.
What had he been expecting; that Rimmer would welcome him with open arms and a snog?

Date: 2006-04-02 02:05 pm (UTC)Very in character, very funny, very enjoyable.
It's just too brilliant to quote any particular part of it, but I especially loved the re-booting the light-bee part, the mention of Superdrug (because I still believe that is the best name for a chain of shops ever) and Rimmer rolled over onto his stomach and pushed himself up onto one arm. - that's an image I can live with. :)
You did a great job of making it feel cold for the most part, and then building up the change of temperature towards the end, where it all comes together very nicely with part one. ;)
*wanders off to re-read*

Ja, it was fun;
Heh, I was thinking Wal-Mart, and I had to ask Kahvi for a comparably tacky Brit chain...
And yes, the thoughts that were going through Lister's head during the reboot were just terrific. Brava!

Date: 2006-04-02 11:25 pm (UTC)The Boyfriend: You know that's entirely realistic, right? Really common in SF; all self-respecting Space Marines have them. That wouldn't be dangerous.
Me: Yes dear, but you're forgetting that this is Red Dwarf.
The Boyfriend: Aaah. Right.
Oh, but the resistance was good! Lister kept screwing up too, and hating himself for it. He gets much too eager, bless him. The reboot thing hit me and Lister both straight in the gut. Got that whole furious anger/need to comfort thing going, which is excellent.

Date: 2006-04-02 11:28 pm (UTC)Especially when Lister kept trying to get the lovely warm-me-up cuddling going, and Rimmer was having nothing of it (I'm sorry! He just wouldn't!). - well, it just means everything has more impact when he does finally come to his senses, that's all. :)
