Fic - Alteration. R/L implications. PG.
Apr. 13th, 2006 12:49 amThis is another conversation-with-
lady_draco-and-
kahvi fic. It started life as a squicky crack pairing for humor, but the device for making it possible took over the fic, and it turned into something completely different. This is an AU replaying of DNA - one where Rimmer doesn't give up on the dandruff.
It was also partly inspired by the IV commentary.
Warnings for some disgustingness and some sappiness. Spoilers for DNA.

Date: 2006-04-13 09:51 am (UTC)This was fun! (until the disintegrating started). The Cat was fabulous.
All the dialogue is spot on, but this "Holly's head reappeared. "It's all right. It's under control." Lister looked up at her. "I called Kryten up. He's bringing a mop."" - especially made me laugh, and the sap was nice. :)

Date: 2006-04-13 02:04 pm (UTC)Hmm ... Wonderful, as usual. I had the stupidest grin on my face for half the story but then the whol thrashing on the floor kind of panicked me. But once again, you managed to draw me into it ...
Ahhhh ... well done my dear. Well done =D

Date: 2006-04-13 03:40 pm (UTC)Thanks! You know, I'm used to Rimmer and Lister taking on a bit of a life of their own, but it surprised me when Holly did this time around. It's like she was looking over my shoulder and snarking. Which is fine - I love Hattie's Holly! I wish there had been more of her.

Date: 2006-04-13 03:52 pm (UTC)Oy, poor Rimmer, he just can't have a break, can he?
Nope.
And that's why we love him!!! :D:D:D:D
I always though that DNA episode left a lot to be desired in the hologram--->human area. I think he should make it. We all know of course that the universe would punish him for getting lucky but at least it could kick him in his real arse! :P

Date: 2006-04-13 07:07 pm (UTC)I've always thought that you write all the characters well - human!Kryten's brief appearance here is great too!
Holly didn't have that much to do (and quite a lot of the stuff she did have wasn't great, but the character did have a distinctive voice and that line could definitely have been one of hers.

Date: 2006-04-14 02:49 am (UTC)Aww, we're so mean to the poor guy! But it's just the way things go for Arnold, Arnold, Arnold Rimmer... *hugs him and tweaks his nose*
Thanks for the feedback!

And
"Rude alert! ...Abandon shop! This is not a daffodil!"

I love Holly here, hehehe...
Silicone brain said he should make his bee part of the clone, or he wouldn't really be alive again.
Yes! Thank you! I've had many late night (drunken) discussions on this topic. Um. Cloning, that is, not Rimmer. I approve of your logic. :)
Rimmer's body's being generated - wonderful stuff.
Well..." she gave an expression that would have matched a shrugging pair of shoulders perfectly, "it's done now."
LMAO!
Lister shook his head and turned back to his crossword. This was just wrong.
Great Lister.
"I called Kryten up. He's bringing a mop."
I shouldn't, but OMG... LMAO!
Wonderful. This was wonderful. And all this from such a silly idea! Thanks for writing!

What, you haven't had late-night drunken discussions of Rimmer? Why not? ;) Rimmer does seem to have a Thing for re-creating himself - but not really as himself, if you know what I mean. Me2, Stasis Leak (One for weekdays, and one for Sunday best!), recreating himself from his dandruff - but doesn't really seem to get, until Rimmerworld, that a clone or copy of him isn't him. I liked the idea that the supercomputer would be able to take his personality and memories from the bee and make the clone actually him.
I loved the idea! We need to have more silly late-night conversations. :)
