This one spun off on a tangent from a conversation with Kat about the Morale Officer speech. Reality sucks. Spoilers up through the end of VI.
Looks like tall and ugly finally pushed short and fat too far, yeah?

*rgal*
"Hmm. No, I think I want to do this with - you know - our Rimmer and Lister."
*used-car salesman*
"Well, they're indistinguishable, yeh know! Except for the snogging and all. And this Rimmer is the only one with the line. But you wouldn't notice..."
*rgal*
*cough* "Is there anything else that you have?"
*used-car salesman*
"Well..." *scratches head* "We do have these reality bubbles. Creates an altered state of reality for a few minutes."
*rgal*
"But then it goes back to normal?"
*used-car salesman*
"Yep, but you can do some innuendo with it, yeh know."
*rgal*
"Plant thoughts?"
*used-car salesman*
"Sure. And then after VIII, anything goes for Lister and Rimmer, whot?"
*rgal*
"Ah, all right. I'll take that one."
*used-car salesman*
"Excellent choice!"

Date: 2006-05-05 10:45 am (UTC)The earlier discussions on this forum made me start thinking about how quickly the lines get blurred between FPS and RPS (like going in an out of a reality bubble ::G::).
I have been considering myself as not being into RPS for two reasons: I never really saw the appeal of making up stories about real people (making up stories about fictional people is as real as it gets for a fictional character). And I feel that writing this stuff is fine, we are all entitled to our fantasies, but publishing them on the Internet feels like a bit of a privacy intrusion.
Then we were having this lenghty discussion on how the actors relationships evolved during the series, based on stuff they said in connection with the series, so it felt relevant to the characters rather than the actors. But suddenly RPS bunnys start jumping around, and we are excited/embarrassed according to our preference. And then I started to question my belief in this discussion being wholly FPS relevant. Is it that I prefer to rationalise my interest in their personal relationship as a FPS thing?
Then you can argue that when the actors put it out there, it's fair game - but then you have in a way justified RPS in general as long as you can make some link to things actually said or done?
Ok, philosophical mode off - back to work...

First of all; amazing Lister! The best I've seen you write him yet, not that you've done so badly before. I was cheering him on. :)
"Lis... Lister, this is not the... the, er, point of the... morale... thing..."
LMAO! *hugs the boys*
"This is like one of those reality TV shows where you did something nasty to get money. There isn't enough money on the ship for this one, though."
LMAO again! I could see and hear this one excellently.
"I don't smegging care what the point of your stupid smegging meeting smeg thingy is, Aaaaaahnold,"
Pure Lister. So, so good! LOVE the "Aaaaaahnold".
Lister was holding onto the joystick in the cockpit, starting to pump it up and down.
Genius.
The three perspectives: wonderful. In fact, it's all wonderful! Wonderful! :D
Um, in short, I liked it. ;)

Date: 2006-05-05 12:27 pm (UTC)you're not human. You're a negative naysaying negative-energy pulling-people down worthless smegpot, just like you are, right?
Great Lister (in my humble opinion, He doesn't live in my head you know).
I loved the ending, the use of the same words for all three was great.
