. Spoilers: Ouroborus, Terrorform, Stoke me a Clipper

Disclaimer: I neither own Red Dwarf, nor do I make any money from this writing.
This was meant to be part of a longer story (though is a readalone), but I've gotten horribly stuck and have only been able to force it out in small chunks.

"You never understood, did you? What it was to have the hope of finally being loved dangled in front of you, only to have it snatched away again." Rimmer turned fully to face him. “I wanted you to know *exactly* what it was you did to me.”
Hard to believe that not twenty minutes had passed since the transdimensional rift had appeared off the port bow and in had breezed Ace Rimmer, all shining suit and pasted on charisma. A man on a mission: he’d reached into his pocket and pulled out something for Kochanski. This something had turned out to be the lightbee of her alternate lover, leading to tearful reunions and heartfelt declarations of eternal gratitude. They’d left the pair to get reaquainted and now here Lister was, sitting on a bunk next to his Rimmer, who was twirling that wig with an unconcern belied by the tightness round his eyes. There was only one question Lister could ask: Why?
The answer caught him unawares, like a blow to the stomach. His wide-eyed shock was met by a look of... anger? Disgust? Something burning, at any rate. He slowly shook his head, unable to formulate a coherant reply. The emotions in Rimmer’s eyes hardened as the silence drew out between them until he slammed the wig over his short-cropped curls and strode away.
Kristine entered some time later, all beautiful smiles and warm farewells. He was able to smile weakly in return for the kiss on his cheek, but refused to come out to see the Wildfire depart.
By the time he’d found his answer they had been long gone.

Walks to door=>walks through=>arhg I dunno he gets hit with a cake, omg good idea=>
It makes everything get into a coordinated line if nothing else.
