Well that's what I'll be doing now, I just know it! I'll be watching Blue and i'll just end up shaking my fist and yelling "This is all because you threw the diary out the garbage shoot you bobble-headed pencil end!"
Though personally, for Blue, I maintain that noone should have taken Rimmer's diaries seriously anyway. It's obvious what Rimmer would write in the things, it was for himself and himself only, no matter what he said about being famous =/
He had let the storage area fall into disorder; he had not been down to clean in months Uh oh... This ain't a good sign...
while Mister Rimmer would try to insert major appliances into Mister Lister *coughs*
a grey, featureless table Still always makes me sad, that room...
I am only writing this down because I know I will have editorial control over the contents of this diary when a time comes for a film to be based upon it Oh, Arn... He's so sweet.
I almost asked him if it was to be the chicken or the rabbi suit this time I don't want to know.
It's your choice what to do with it when you find it. And he took that away...
There just seems to be something so very screwed up with that part of Blue - argh! I really do think Kryten was in a place in VII where he would happily have gotten in the way of anything between Rimmer and Lister.
The bit with Lister complaining that Rimmer tried to 'insert' a fridge in him in Out Of Time makes very wrong thoughts go through my head. :p
GASPS! I knew that! Kryten is even a bigger bastard than I suspected! That two legged condom dispencer! *wipes a tear* and we all now know who to blame - Kochanski! Kryten!
Very sad though at the same time, hilarious. Once again - 'Rimmerworld', WHAT were they thinking!?!?! O_o
I really like Kryten, but the personality transplant he got in VII? What the hell? And it's a personality that's quite in keeping with doing some rather nasty backstabby things. :(
Ah, that name! From what I've heard, it's a common and un-connotation-filled name for the Brits, unlike here. Although I love a good bit of double entendre, in the instance of the original title for SMAC, I do somewhat regret it - Natural Born Rimmers was an awesome title.
Just as with his wonderful revision timetables, one could just imagine a young Rimmer focussing on making his handwriting perfect to cover the fact he's got no idea what to write about in his exams!
"And any lingering sexual desire I might have had for Lister is rapidly being cured by the fact that he is picking bits of curry out of his teeth with a set of medical forceps that I am not sure if he washed first."
This has got to be my favourite line in the whole thing. I choked on my tea while reading it :D
One thing - did Kryten discover beforehand that Rimmer had gone on to be Ace, or was he reacting purely to Lister's changing memories?
Yes, that's what I was thinking of - going along with the painstakingly colored timetables of bookverse.
I always assumed that Lister told Kryten the truth as part of telling him about the dream. It's the context for the dream, and there's no reason not to tell Kryten - I assume that the only reason he lied in the first place was to get Rimmer's arse moving.
You know, I've always thought that both Kryten and even Cat secretly knew all along. I just... Fits. (Yes, I've got bunnies. I've got bunnies and WIP's coming out of my friggin' ears, man! *sigh, mumbles something about home exam*)
Yes, it certainly would be a little odd, in their eyes, to have a little coffin for Arn that they follow to a pink planet with a lot of other coffins...
I can see it going either way. Kryten would certainly think that something is amiss, I think, but then again, he's somewhat inclined to believe anything Lister tells him. Since we know from Rimmerworld that Cat can smell the difference between a human and a hard-light hologram, he'd know the Ace who visited in SMAC was a hard-light hologram, but I dunno if he'd really care enough to go anywhere with that later. He just wants to know where to get a good 'do. :)
However, I do think that Kryten knows the truth by the time Blue rolls around - after all, if Mister Rimmer really is dead and gone, he has no reason to be so insistent about bringing Lister around to hating him again...

Nicely written story--though I may have a tough time getting to like Kryten again. ^^;

Great story mate. I think it's wonderful that you manage to make me hate a character - that's gifted story telling. Good stuff, little one :)
