I torture him, too, but he comes out for me more often than Lister. Maybe because he feels I can relate, lawd help me. :p

He really was astonishingly manipulative. As you say, because he thought he was doing something good - and maybe, the slasher in me thinks, because he was having trouble coming to terms with his lust for Rimmer?

Nah, Lister would be fine with lusting after Rimmer IMO. Not that he wouldn't angst about it, but I think he'd quite easily admit it to himself. But then... There's what I saw happening in "Teammates". *sigh*
