If you haven't done the drabble tree thing before, someone posts a drabble (a 100-word ficlet) and then in comments people posts new drabbles, using a line (or part thereof) from the previous drabble in their drabble.

This one is unthemed, I just felt like starting one. The last one we did is here (am searching for other examples to tag as well).

He could never remember who’d reached for whom first. His hand had made contact with Rimmer’s hard-light form, touching his side through that stupid blue jacket; Rimmer’s hand had closed on his shoulder, squeezing hard, and they’d given each other a look of disbelief. This opened up a whole world of things that had previously been impossible.

They’d lost no time in trying out several of those things that night. Drowsing with his arm draped across Rimmer’s bare chest, half-open eyes focused on the silly grin on the hologram’s face, Lister understood: all they’d both needed was a good shag.

I need to kickstart myself into getting some stuff written, and I thought a drabble tree would be the perfect way to do it. We've had a couple of these here before, but for those who haven't participated before, here's how it works:

Below the cut is a drabble (100 words exactly). Anyone who wants to participate replies to this post with another drabble containing one of the sentences or phrases from the original drabble. The subject line should be the words you took. The next person should continue the trend, stealing a sentence or phrase and beginning their own.

Any particular drabble can be drawn from as many times as you want. If you don't feel like writing 100 words exactly, that's OK. Near-drabbles of approximately 100 words are fine too. It's about having fun, not exact definitions. ;)

Still confused? Here's one we did earlier!

By request, here is the base of a rarepair drabble tree -- so for this drabble tree, make your pairing something other than Lister/Rimmer.

There was nothing like the chance to finally be alone. Starbug's cockpit was cramped but for the time being they didn't need him. Rimmer stretched out on the bunk, one command vanishing his clothes, another command calling in his favourite aid to self-gratification. The others were busy; he could really enjoy himself this time.

He was almost at the pinnacle of pleasure when Lister unexpectedly walked in. The Scouser's face was undeniably unimpressed as he took in all the details of the passionate scene.

'Can't you at least shut the door, man? That’s disgustin'.'

'Mr Flibble's very unfulfilled,' Rimmer grumped.

The Norwegian Christmas holiday lasts forever... if you're in school. For the rest of us, there are two days of work between Christmas and New Years (this year), and it just feels wrong to be here. Hence, I am seeking distractions!

Below the cut is a drabble (100 words exactly). Anyone who wants to participate replies to this post with another drabble containing one of the sentences or phrases from the original drabble. The subject line should be the words you took. The next person should continue the trend, stealing a sentence or phrase from any one of the existing drabbles and beginning their own. Any particular drabble can be drawn from as many times as you want. If you don't feel like posting 100 words exactly, that's OK. Near-drabbles of approximately 100 words are fine too. It's about having fun, not exact definitions. ;)

For reference, here's one we did earlier!

And could I, perhaps, suggest a holiday theme this time around? Entirely optional, of course, but Red Dwarf has always reminded me of Christmas. Maybe it's Lister's It's a Wonderful Life obsession?

I had so much fun writing that drabble yesterday, that I thought I'd suggest a drabble tree. For those who've never participated in one before, here's how it works:

Just a 'lil note to let y'all know that [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest is still taking signups (until March 15th.) You can do so here. There are plenty of Red Dwarf prompts, and I'd feel all tingly if they got written.

So as to make this post less about pimpage and more about actual ficcing, how about a drabble-tree? It's like an orgy, but with drabbles instead of sex. :p If you've not done one before - it's simple. I will post a drabble (a story that's 100 words exactly) below the cut. If you'd like to play, take a sentence from that drabble, and use it to write one of your own. Then post it in reply to the one you stole from, and so on, and so forth. If you don't want to write 100 words exactly, that's OK too. It's about fun, not exact definitions!

I played with this over at [livejournal.com profile] fakenews_fanfic, and I thought it might be fun to try over here. Here's how it works - I post a drabble, and anyone who wants to participate replies to this post with another drabble containing one of the sentences or phrases from the original drabble. The subject line should be the words you took. The next person should continue the trend, stealing a sentence or phrase and beginning their own.

Any particular drabble can be drawn from as many times as you want. If you don't feel like posting 100 words exactly, that's OK. Near-drabbles of approximately 100 words are fine too. It's about having fun, not exact definitions. ;)
