veronica_rich put this idea in my head, so here's her not-quite-a-kink-meme-prompt: I'm intrigued by the notion that Rimmer and Lister would carry on an affair in AR somehow but never acknowledge it during their time in reality

I got carried away answering this prompt, so instead of trying to post it in 4 parts, I'm posting it here.

In answer to the prompt: Rimmer likes to pretend he has everything under control, and yet his status as a hologram removes any trace of control he might have, even over his own body. I would love to see a story where Rimmer loses control of himself ( think channeling the crew in Queeg, the Holovirus in Quarantine, running out of power in Demons & Angels, the system crash in Trojan, etc) and has to deal with the consequences. Humour is fine, but angsty would be preferred.

I've mentioned this elsewhere, but thought I would ask here: Would anyone be interested in a new kinkmeme? It's been quite some time since the old one was started, and there are a lot of new faces in the fandom who might want to participate. I'd be happy to set it up/run it.

I'm thinking of setting it up here on LJ, but promoting it over on tumblr as well, since there are a number of fans there too. Even those without
accounts here would be able to post prompts and fills anonymously. Feckles has agreed to help spread the word on tumblr. Although I expect it would mostly be slash fans posting, it would be open to all pairings.

If anyone else has any thoughts or suggestions, please let me know.

Hey slashers!

I just thought since I've recently approved a bunch of new members I'd mention the kink meme again. There's a round-up post of filled and unfilled prompts (which is a tiny bit out of date); the meme itself is here and is the place to go to add new prompts or write fics for those that are still unfilled. You can post anonymously. (You can also post logged in if you don't mind people knowing what you've written.)

Go forth and celebrate your kinks! Remember, not everyone's into the same things as you, so if you see a pairing or kink that squicks you, just. don't. read. it. No kink shaming!

Hiya, slashers!

I thought it might be useful to put of a master post of requests for the Kink Meme, listing filled and unfilled prompts. I'll be linking to this post in the meme, and updating it as often as I can. Please note that for convenience and sanity, I'm only going to be doing this for the SECOND meme. Feel free to keep playing in the first meme if you like, but I feel it would be less confusing all round if we focus on the second one. Finally, let me just say that there are some wonderful prompts people are coming up with, and I would really recommend them as inspiration for longer or non-meme stories too. Anon Kink Meme part one

I am posting these links so that newcomers are aware of them, and also because I just did some counting. Part one has 22 prompts and 11 filled; part two has 12 prompts and 3 filled. I've got a friend who's part of the Phoenix Wright anon kink meme and she's been squeeing over how many prompts they have and how so many have been filled, and let's just say I'm not expecting us to get over 16,000 prompts on our meme but I just think it'd be cool to see if we can fill some more of them, and if people have prompts to add, to do so. They don't have to be slash prompts, either.

I apologise for any garbledness in that last paragraph, it's two AM and I'm off to bed.

Aside from the Mary Sues, what are you guilty of when it comes to RD fic?

I am guilty of always, ALWAYS referring to Rimmer's hair as 'unruly'. Also of waffling on at length about his eye colour.

I am guilty of going to extreme lengths to write some of the most ridiculous pairings ever.

I am guilty of leaving everyone hanging many times when I was writing Floor 13 because I was such a flake about sitting down and actually writing chapters despite nagging the crap out of everyone to help me with chapter titles.

Edit: I'm guilty of editing the comm sidebar to include a link to the second anonymous kinks meme, but that's the fun sort of guilt.
