Ah, but Lister made his own bed to lie in, there. Rimmer didn't want to leave.

I could be evil and say that your comment applies better to the actors, but I'm not evil and won't. :p

Good point. But I think Lister convinced Rimmer to leave because he thought Ace would be good for Rimmer, not because he wanted him gone.

Oh, yes, I agree! He thought he was doing what was right for Rimmer. And maybe, trying to make Rimmer realize what he had in himself - not realizing, perhaps, how much Rimmer had changed since his death, and that he didn't have to kick the hologram out in order for Rimmer to realize his potential. But then VIII comes around, and he does realize how much Rimmer changed!

It's funny that no matter how many fics I read about that, the idea never seem well and truly explored to the fullest. You have written what, a dozen of SMAC fics alone, and yet there could be more and more and more....(from my prespective as a reader of course)
