Oh, my poor boy! Yes, he would worry about that, wouldn't he? Lovely Lister in this part especially. I could see him clearly.
I love that he tucks in Rachel.
Wonderful Cat.
Lister... Smoking... Cigar... *mind has quiet lie-down*
as Kryten cleaned the table during lunch, wiping his bee with a chamois and placing it carefully back without turning it back on. Laugh out loud time. What a mental image. Kryten has his moments. ;)
with all of the evidence of a rather horrid surprise, collapsing ignobly in upon itself. That's some good writin'.
Lister winked. "Well, it's strip poker tonight..." Oh, I so see his face...
Ahhh, the Return of the Aliens! lol! It's been ages since we had those come up. I like it! I liked Rimmer's other theory for why Lister was wasting away, too.
I'm afraid my idea of a happy fic is totally without Rachelsex ;-) My theory is that he never touched her, he just have her there to make everyone believe he is actually interested in women ::G:: (when a real (for him anyway) beautiful women makes a pass, she has to drag him off to bed?) And this whole thing about Rimmer coming back in time and kill them - maybe I am thick-headed but I don't get the context at all. How? When?
Heh - I like the idea of Rimmer and Rachel because it seems like, in RD, that's all women are to Rimmer - a prop, something to (try to) sleep with in order to say, "See? I am a virile, straight man!" Not real partners. I think Rimmer, with his past, is a total in-closet-to-self gay man.
Well, it was Old Evil Rimmer who made the ultimatums at the end of Out Of Time; I figured that might have made some kind of impact on Lister.
Oh - they're pushed back in time by paradox to before they picked up the time drive when they're killed by their future selves. In Tikka, Lister picks up the drive again to get his curry, but I thought that maybe the idea that Rimmer could turn into a person that would happily kill him was eating at him. Picking up the time-drive and not seeing their future selves come back might be some indication to him that they turned out differently, perhaps even better. :p We never see what happens to the time-drive, and he must have had it in Oroborous...
But it's a different time-drive, isn't it? Because they blew up the old one... no, they blew up the whole ship, thereby exterminating future self, thereby getting present self back, but then the time drive was different as well at future self, or rather future self never encountered the problem to need to come back for help... but of course SMAC ruined everything, because Rimmer is no longer with them, so this was probably an alternative future, or maybe they are an alternative present.. never mind, my head is gonna explode like the camera if I try this any further... Now this was what I didn't understand: "So, that was one of the points of this little exercise, was it? To see if I would come back in time and try to kill all of us again?" What exercise?
Oh - going and getting the time-drive again after OOT.
It's enough to give you a headache. I wanted to also imply that this would be a driving force behind Stoke - as you said, it's all changed a bit, so is the future selves not-returning really a sign that everything turns out OK? Then the opportunity arises to make sure at lest one of them ends up a hero...

Mmm, sucking on phallic objects is canon! As is strip poker. Yet another reason to love RD.
