For those of you who've seen both the regular release and the director's cut, which is better? Since I vid, I'd think that all the scenes I could get would be best and am leaning toward getting the original release, but if the director's cut is better, I'd rather get that. Is the only difference that some of the lines were cut, specifically about it being a 3-parter and Rimmer hating those? Or were there more changes?

*yeah, still not getting the dishes done*

If you get the director's cut you get both the regular release and the Director's cut. At least on the DVD copy I have, it has both.

My DVD also has both versions - the Director's Cut is definitely better because the story flows more naturally. The only difference is the removal of the recaps at the start of parts 2 and 3.

Doug commentates on the Director's Cut and the actors on the 3-part version. There are also lots of lovely extras. :)

Forgot to mention deleted scenes are also included, with commentary from Doug explaining why they were cut. This includes a significant extension to the "bunk scene" which can be read as slashy. ;)

I second this. My favorite theme is Craig continually poking fun when he can at Chris, and always shutting up for a little bit when Chris retaliates with a compliment. Also, Chris filling in with Craig's voice for the ones Craig has to miss. ;-)

The cutest DVD extra ever for me was on BTE. It's the behind the scenes bit where the cast are signing pics and Chris is doing impressions of everyone. This is cute enough in itself but the best moment is when he jokes about Craig acting the socks off everyone else in the show. Craig laughs and swipes at him, but he can't hide how pleased he is at getting a compliment like that from Chris. You can see he still has that kind of older brother adulation thing going on. Adorable.

Completely agree. The way Craig lights up is indeed adorable. :)
