Hi There, I'm New.

So yes I'm relatively new to the fandom and entirely new to the world of FanFiction, but I've been utterly smitten with Red Dwarf and all the Lister and Rimmer slash that is out there. I've been reading a ton of it over the last few months and I finally decided to bite the bullet and write something myself. I know I've got a lot to live up to since so much of what I've read so far in the community has been absolutely fantastic, but hopefully it at least isn't complete rubbish.

Also I'm not even sure if it's kosher for me to be posting it here, so feel free to slap me on the wrists if I need to go through some sort of initiation rites first. :)

Don't worry, I didn't get that either. Tbh, since I wasn't expecting a RD related icon, I thought it was Boy George. :o

I'm very amused by all the thoughts about the icon! Unfortunately the truth is not quite so interesting as it being Lister as a mime or Boy George. :D

I wanted to come up with a new username to use for my Red Dwarf fanfics, so I experimented with coming up with some anagrams. I like anagrams. I settled on Lord Valery Mimes because the "Lord" bit amused me because it reminded me of Lord Voldemort, and I thought the bit about miming was funny too.

I popped onto some stock photography websites to look for a pictures of a mime to use for my icon and I thought it was perfect when I found this slightly angsty looking mime lady clutching a heart, especially since she's wearing a rose in her hair, which is something I also do. I added the A.J.R. to the heart and popped in a starry background to add the Red Dwarf connection, et voila.

I love that missflibble saw it as Lister though. Now I can't stop thinking of Lister made up as a mime, trying to express his love of Rimmer through pantomime...

No apologies needed, I love that you saw it as Lister! The mime-girl has braids/plaits in her hair and I can totally see where you might have gotten Lister from it. He is pretty after all. :)
