I am waiting for my computer. And talking slash. So I decided to write a smutfic.

No matter what I do, my in-canon smutfics always go back to Stoke Me A Clipper, and that makes them melancholy.

Critique welcome. There's a bit of an odd voice and tense change thing going on, and I dunno if it works.

I don't think Lister is a smeghead in this; it's just that he can't read Rimmer's mind, and Rimmer still has some of the Rimmer arrogance that makes him think he can read Lister's. I was thinkin' that Lister was hoping that the snog and blow would lead to some hot Rimmer-fucking, and the way Rimmer acted - well, without knowing his thoughts, it's mixed messages.

Thank you for the comments! You know, I only wrote Lister-kiss from Rimmer's view once, and I kinda glossed the details, but that's cheating. Kissing a smoker, if you're a non-smoker, really is pretty grotty, and I don't think lager and curry would help it any (yes, I'm getting flashbacks of Mr. Barrie's commentary from Blue - you need to get that DVD!). But even an untasty kiss can still be a good kiss...

As lovely and squeeworthy as Blue was, though, it really throws canon fics for a loop. I mean, would Lister be squicked at kissing Rimmer if they've had carnal knowledge in the past? So I wrote my Monster and Cold arcs as AU, even though that bugs me. :p But they do have some way to erase memories in RD - cue Season II - so there we go.

I know, I know. But you know, I identify with the character, so it makes me angry when he does stupid things. If that makes any sort of sense.

Well... I dunno. That's the beauty of an SF universe though; virtually anything can make sense if you want it to. I do think your handling of it was quite ingenious though; if he'd erased the memory of it, that would actually go towards explaining his dream (and his feelings) in "Blue". I might borrow that idea for a fix later, if I may?

I gotcha. Although - I identify with Rimmer, and when he does something stupid, I mostly just feel resigned. ;)
