Fic: Marks. Part 2. PG.
May. 25th, 2006 02:54 pmSorry, I should have posted this as a one-shot; I thought it would take longer to write Part II. :p
Maybe it was merely because Lister had been thinking about the hologrammatic Rimmer.
Concrit always appreciated.

Stupid cheap Martian tech.
He loved a dead man. And now the man brought back to life feels more like his corpse.
Yes. God, yes; that's it exactly.
The kiss. Oh, the kiss! So perfect, and the turn-around.
"What was he like?"
*heart breaks*
This is just so wonderfully done. I can tell you know Rimmer so well, to make - well, everything - come through so wonderfully even from Lister's POV.
So bitter-sweet. Poor both of them. *sigh* Again.

Date: 2006-05-25 11:39 pm (UTC)Ja, VIII was bittersweet. On the one hand, Lister has Rimmer back. On the other hand, it's not his Rimmer. On the third hand, it's not his Rimmer because it hasn't had the experiences - and it is someone he could love, I think, if this Rimmer had a few life-changing experiences himself. I mean, he's a bastard, true, but the mere fact that holo-Rimmer could become better means that resurrected-Rimmer could, too - given the chance.
Now that would be a love triangle.

Date: 2006-05-26 12:31 am (UTC)Of course, he is an optimist at his core. I think, if pressed, he'd admit he thinks his Arn will come back to him. But of course, then there's this Rimmer to consider. He'd want to do right by him too. Personally, I think he should set him up with Kochanski. Slap some sense into the woman.

You know... *mulling it* That makes a lot more sense than I would have thought.

Date: 2006-05-25 11:24 pm (UTC)Still, it's all true. Resurrected!Rimmer sucks compared to Holo!Rimmer. They're just not the same guy and it's rather telling.
=\I want Holo!Rimmer back.

Date: 2006-05-25 11:43 pm (UTC)But as said above, there are so many places to go from here. There's the idea that this is karma getting him back for what he did to holo-Rimmer in Stoke. There's the thought that this Rimmer does indeed have the potential to become more, because holo-Rimmer did. And so on. But yes, it's not the same man!

Date: 2006-05-26 12:55 am (UTC)But if he doesn't... :( I mean, if the next Ace brings back holo-Rimmer's lightbee, as he did in Kahvi's story - where does that leave Lister?

I don't think there's been a single instance of a Rimmer getting along with another Rimmer, though. :( Lister/Lister/Rimmer is more likely. Femme!Lister/Lister/Rimmer? Spanners/Skipper/Rimmer? MustachioedMirrorLister/Lister/Rimmer?

Date: 2006-05-26 01:12 am (UTC)That needs to happen. I need to make that happen. At one point. Oh god. The thoughts! The mental images! Why do I have so many WIPs!? Aaaah!
Ahem, sorry, that seemed to trigger something rather interesting. ;)

Date: 2006-05-26 02:09 am (UTC)Can I challenge you to write all of those in various stories? *hopeful look*

Date: 2006-05-26 02:18 am (UTC)But hmmm...
*adds it to the challenge list*
All in one story is probably too much brain explosion, though.

Date: 2006-05-26 02:25 am (UTC)Anyway. You could spread it all out in one-shots. And no, I don't care about how much detail you go into.
Just as long as it ends up written...^_^
