Title: Spanners - Part I
Authors:
kahvi and
roadstergal
Rating: PG-13 (For this part.)
Pairing: Alternate Ace/Alternate Spanners, Rimmer/Lister implications.
Spoilers: The End, Dimension Jump, Terrorform, Legion, Emohawk, Stoke Me A Clipper, Blue, Nanarchy, Only The Good - pretty much spoilers for the show as a whole.
This takes place after the end of VIII. A followup, of sorts, to Return and Back, although reading them is not necessary to understanding this story.
"Good old Spanners, eh?"

Date: 2006-06-06 07:35 am (UTC)I can only hope Spanners will sort them out. Silly....
Great story guys. I was waiting to see how you would continue that story arc, and look: more angst!
Can't wait for the next bit.

Date: 2006-06-06 09:22 am (UTC)On the other hand with more 'serious' shows there's a fair amount of angst in there already, so it's hard to write any more without it getting ridiculosly out of hand.
So it's comedy fics for drama and angst fic for comedy. Or something. Whatever.

Date: 2006-06-06 04:59 pm (UTC)I see Red Dwarf as being, primarily, a character drama. The sci-fi is just there to help that along, IMO - clones, psi-moons, figments of Mister Lister's imagination made flesh, etc. I also feel that it's a drama-based comedy, and really runs on the fine edge between drama and humor, dipping its toes in both. That is, I feel, why it has such a rabid fan base - there is just so much there, so much more depth than in your typical comedy.
