I couldn't read Kahvi's wonderful Leave It To Spanners and not do this.
I don't like getting into Ace's head; I don't like the guy. ;) Concrit always welcome.
It follows:
Bongo.
Leave It To Spanners.
Dear lord, what had he been thinking?

Date: 2006-04-14 09:28 pm (UTC)If Skipper could resist the magnificent specimen of manhood that was Captain Arnold Rimmer, what chance did this pathetic little neurotic maggot think he had? - I like this line a lot - it seems to be both Ace and Arnold at the same time, but isn't he always referred to as 'Commander Rimmer'?
I somehow have a very vivid idea of what Rhonda's like - which is quite amazing for someone only in one sentence.
Aww, lovely ending, and some great details of exactly how and where Ace and Spanners touched each other. :)

Date: 2006-04-16 11:05 am (UTC)Ahh, hmm ... Every single different Arnold would most definitely like a Lister. So, there was no doubt in this one =)
Hmm, I wouldn't mind reading a "What Arnie thought when Ace was there" fic *throws a bunny at ya* ... =)
Well done as usual.

Date: 2006-04-16 04:23 pm (UTC)Yes, I agree that every Arnold would be uncomfortably and neurotically heels over head over a Dave in some dimension - or many. ;)
"What Arnie thought when Ace was there"
GitgitgitbastardgitsmugbastardarseholegitgitgitstayawayfromListeryoutwatgitgitgit...
;) I'll ponder that.

Doesn't happen in every universe, mate, you should know that! ;)
Ster-O-Zap
*snigger*
This Lister looked like someone for whom laundry was a pilgrimage to Mecca - important, but not something to undertake more than once in a lifetime.
LOVE this line. Wonderful!
(and a hard-core lesbian, fortunately for Ace's annual exams)
Would that really be enough? Hehehe... ;)

Ooooohhhh...
how they do it back on Mimas base...
Or don't, rather.
but would make Ace run back to his room afterwards and breathlessly masturbate with his eyes closed, trying to keep the feel and smell of the man alive until he was done.
Wonderfully evocative.
I might follow up on this. I've got several... Ideas.

Date: 2006-04-16 10:46 pm (UTC)Yeah, Ace is full of himself, and he really does look down on his alternate self - who is him - rather a lot, doesn't he?
Follow up, up, up, and away!
Tangent - you know, I've been thinking about this ever since the first time I saw VII. Remember that scene in Dimension Jump when Arn and Lister are talking, and Arn asks how Lister would feel if there were a much better Lister in another dimension? And Lister says how happy he is for the Listers who are doing better, and how he doesn't begrudge them anything? Well, I just want to take that bit of tape and play it back for the Lister in VII, who is very annoyed (and constantly whinges about the fact) that there is a "much better Lister" that Kochanski thinks more highly of. Perfect parallel for the Ace that Arn thinks Lister thinks more highly of, isn't it?
